The Hotel and First Day
If you read my post Moto Porn! you already know that at the very least when you get to your hotel you have ready access to the wide and wonderful world of Japanese Erotica. Which in reality is also all censored. So if watching people with fizzy parts handle each others fuzzy bits is what you like, feel free to pay your hotel for it, otherwise the internet is still your best friend.
Speaking of internet. Our hotel was nice enough to provide high speed internet bags that had everything from a modem to all the cables you needed to set everything up in your room. This certainly helped out a number of us trainees deal with the fact that we were now in another country.
But the hotel is what I wanted to talk about. The rooms are small, especially when you put a bed, closet, desk, and TV in them. However, even though it was a very small room it was well equipped and quite comfortable. It even had a single serve teapot or general purpose hot plate that was very useful for heating up convenience store food.
I was also given a list of the rooms for the other members of the training group. I got washed up and ready to go find the other white people who decided to make the cross ocean journey, but before I could be the brave one I was interrupted. Erin, a girl from Canada, beat me to the punch and knocked on my door. So together we found all but two of the other trainees in our group of eight.
At that point no one was feeling to adventurous. So we found a Denny’s (which is not in any way like an American Denny’s… I’ll explain later) and had dinner. I think the staff was both excited and a bit disturbed to get a group of 8 foreigners (we managed to find the lost members before dinner) at the same time. All together we had a 3 Americans (myself, Ben, & Drew), 3 Aussies (Catherine, Angela, & Sara), Sonja from New Zealand, and Erin from Canada. Three of the group had previous experience in Japan (Ben, Drew, and Catherine), so we ended up with a decent selection of guides to help us survive the language barrier.
