Why The Sims is Evil
I just learned something - The Sims: Freetime Expansion is not a joke. It’s real.
You can now waste your own free time by micromanaging the free time of the fake people you have created. I really don’t think it gets more sad than that. Even all of the kids rocking out to Guitar Hero III instead of learning the guitar are less pathetic than an actual Freetime expansion pack.
There is at least the possibility you will play Guitar Hero with your friends. I play fake guitar with my friends and I have a great time. And I can say this without being just another poser, because, indeed, I do play guitar. But spending the time to level up a fake persons basketball or musical skill in order to make your fake person’s life more fulfilling? Why don’t you go out and make your own life better?
If you really just lack even the motivation to go outside and do things, at least buy a RealDoll. It may be really weird and creepy, but at least you’ll be playing with yourself… kid of… in a creepy way… rather than playing with fake people who now have infinitely better lives than you do.
I don’t know why I’m in a ranting mood. But I am. Maybe you can get you avatar to retort back for you. You know, in his free time.

Wow, i’ve always thought The Sims was a colossal waste of time, and now i see it’s worse than i thought! lol.

I don’t really know the Sims, but this sounds a lot like the way people have very well developed “2nd Lives” and overlook the first one.

Hahahaha. Someone doesn’t understand the concept of a game.

@ iamthediva - Thanks for dropping by! As a former Sims player I can attest to it being a huge waste of time without any expansions. It is a fun idea, but going to work to make money to buy furniture is something I don’t need to repeat after I go to work to do the same thing.
@ Tiffany - It could be. Although I don’t think The Sims has gotten to the level of some of the MMOs.
@ Jared - Agreed

@ Loltrain - I understand the concept of games. I play tons of games. But this has taken it to the next level of pointless. At least in other games I get to do something I might not already be able to do.
Sounds like someone forgot the point of imagination.

This is basically true of most video games. Why waste time improving your score or stats, on something that is completely useless?
I used to play some video games, even had a few all-nighters, but then I saw the light…and found more productive(?) pursuits.

For all accounts, I think SecondLife is worse. Because there, you have more options available to you. Plus, you play against other real people living through fake lives.
I don’t play SL, and I never will. At some point, given the way entertainment is going, someone will invent a device like the Matrix, and people will clamber over eachother to get plugged in to the ultimate dreamworld.
I’ll be happy when that happens. More REAL fresh air for me.

I didn’t think anyone played Sims anymore. It was fun but so additive about 5 years ago.
I will never touch Second Life.
