Hit This Fantasy

Yeah. I bet you though Fantasy Football was uber manly. Think again!
As a long time tabletop role player I find it funny that grown men who hate ‘fantasy games’ don’t understand that fantasy (sport of your choice) is just as much fantasy as D&D.
Although, going a step further, I think actual role players are better at what they do. You see, those freaky D&D kids you make fun of (personally I was more of a White Wolf fan) are actually creative. A sports buff spends days agonizing over stats, reading bios, cobbling together a Wet Dream Team. But then they stop… All the control goes to the real people and it becomes a game that resembles something more like dueling accountants than a real game.
The nerds have to be creative. they have to think their character through situations. They have to use the stats they agonized over to outwit the cruel storyteller. they don’t play backseat number-cruncher. So the next time that manly looking guy from cubicle 18 starts talking fancy about his fantasy team, bring up your old D&D character. then when laughed at, try this, “Have you done anything with your team? You know, because, uh… at least I play my character instead of just dreaming about playing with a team full of sweaty guys.”
