True of Many Things

Yesterday I put out a little note about Firefox 3.0 having a coming out party. Well it turns out that, much like the time Trent Reznor said “DRM Free for Free,” that when you invite the whole world to your party, lots of people will say yes.

The result pretty much echoes the above cartoon from Cyanide and Happiness. The internet also can’t hear your servers say no to the demands of of over enthusiastic fanboys (hey, I admit to being one, so don’t get whine). So, while setting a world record it invited for this event, Mozilla’s server died a tragic (but silent) death under the weight of burning browser desire.

Yesterday also resulted in my trying to download a corrupted file directly from mozilla and plenty of timed out connections. However, I think we are confident they will weather and survive the release of their latest and greatest version of Firefox just fine.
