The last few days I’ve been getting some internal server errors while trying to remotely post using either Windows Live Writer (a very awesome new program I am toying with) or BlogDesk.

Right now it mostly just seems to be a problem with posts that contain images. From the mu.wordpress site it appears that others are also having the same problems with posts that contain images.

I have a couple of posts still on schedule, but it is annoying to not be able to queue up some of the other things I have ready and waiting in the wings.

UPDATE

I managed to get an email back form tech support at my host in less than an hour (go team!). It seems the problem is with most host servers defaulting to PHP 4 rather than PHP 5. The fix is also incredibly easy, if you have a .htaccess file you need to add two lines:

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

And bam, problem fixed!

As evidence the post directly after this was posted using live writer.

On another note… The line of code the tech support agent gave me caused huge problems… It looks like they omitted the space between php5 and .php – so addtional credit goes to The Code Cave. I was able to check the code I was given against theirs and figure out the problem.

Well, the site theme has changed again. This time the theme is very much a rip of the DeviantArt website that was excellently created by Deniart.

I loved my old theme, but the code inside of it was generally a mess and made things load rather slowly. The code for this theme is much more ordered and goes about things in generally logical ways. This theme also has only one sidebar, and gives the content more space. One thing I will be attempting (keeping my fingers crossed) is to implement the excerpts of slightly older posts that were present in the old theme. I liked it, and it really shouldn’t be hard to bring to this theme.

This theme doesn’t do much to feature my art as a banner, but as much as I enjoyed the vanity of it, I am a slave to faster loading pages than seeing my own stuff at the top of a page… especially when people who visit here come to see the content below the header.

If you like or hate the theme, leave a comment.

I’m back from the Cape. Ok, so I have been for a couple of days now, but I’m lazy. If I manage to remember to get the pictures off my camera I will post pictures sometime tomorrow or the next day.

On another note, the meta data (login and what not) for the site moved down a couple of notches. The main reason is very simple… You can no longer register at this site. Since you never had to register to leave a comment, and only I write here, there is no reason to have open registration. It helps me close some possible security holes and keeps my inbox free of registration spam.

Also the new Entrebar is made of awesome. I’ve been an entrecard member since close to the launch of the service, but I was mostly inactive for quite awhile. Mostly because it was a pain to do any card drops while at work or just popping online at home for a few minutes. The new Firefox bar does an amazing job of simplifying the process and making it fun again!

Enough random, back out the door I go.

Want to be original but don’t have money? The Get Out Clause did just that. However, the Telegraph can say it better than I can:

Unable to afford a proper camera crew and equipment, The Get Out Clause, an unsigned band from the city, decided to make use of the cameras seen all over British streets.

With an estimated 13 million CCTV cameras in Britain, suitable locations were not hard to come by.

They set up their equipment, drum kit and all, in eighty locations around Manchester – including on a bus – and proceeded to play to the cameras.

Afterwards they wrote to the companies or organisations involved and asked for the footage under the <del>Freedom of Information Act</del> Data Protection Act.

When you piece it all together, you get the above music video which seems incredibly creative rather than a cheap solution to a video crew. While filming from the perspective of security cameras is no new thing, as far as I know this might be the first use of the actual security cameras for filming.

So, I have come to realize that while I do occasional post about what search engine traffic I get I do not consistently name the posts. I’m not going to go back and change anything, but from now on the naming and labeling will at least approach order.

And, for those with any interest, here is the list of the previous articles about what I get from “The Google.”

Interesting Searches

Two New Search Terms

What Google Sends Me

Oddly enough I am getting a growing number of hits from the search term “Google Transition” (which I did write a post about). I never really intended it to do more than amuse me, but apparently it is reasonable popular to click on. I may do some more work in this area so people who do happen upon this post have more to read.

The other term which is less popular, but performs better for bounce rate and length of stay, is “how to teach English.” Being that I was a teacher for a short time, this does make sense. What I really need to do is write more in this area. I also enjoy writing about it anyway, I just get lazy and forget to follow up with actual writing.

Recently there have been a number of new user registrations. However, the vast majority are from addresses that are almost certainly bot generated. This being the case, it has been time to clean out the user list.

Any user that shows as having zero comments will be deleted by the end of the week.

So if you happen to be a real person, have registered as a user, and have not commented please either leave a message here or on any other post. Luckily, due to the magic of WP, you don’t have to register to comment. And most of you who do comment are, in fact, not registered. So I predict business will continue exactly as normal!

Here is a bit of music that my dad found for me. This might not be the standard music video I normally post, but for once it might be something that will help you relax. So sit back, and enjoy some smooth blues/jazz sounds.
